This nutritious pasta bake makes a tasty mid-week supper and a welcome change from your dog’s regular food.
Makes: 8-10 portions
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Cooking time: 15-20 minutes
250 g (8 oz) cooked wheat- and gluten-free pasta, chopped
200 g (7 oz) low-fat cottage cheese
200 g (7 oz) low-fat natural yogurt
5 basil leaves, chopped
50 g (2 oz) French beans, topped, tailed and finely chopped
200 g (7 oz) cooked boneless, skinless rabbit or chicken
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons grated low-fat Parmesan cheese
1. Mix all the ingredients, except the Parmesan, in a large bowl. Pour into a 28 x 20-cm (11 x 8-inch) ovenproof dish and sprinkle with the Parmesan.
2. Bake in a preheated oven, 200°C (400°F), Gas Mark 6, for 15-20 minutes. Leave to cool thoroughly.
3. Cut the bake into 7-cm (3-inch) squares with a sharp knife and freeze until required for up to 3 months. Defrost thoroughly before use. Feed your dog 2-4 squares as a meal, depending on his size.
Note: Parmesan can have quite a high salt content, so don’t be tempted to add more than is recommended.
